The History of Breezy Hill

Breezy Hill is a Queen Anne style home designed by local architect T.J. Collins. Construction began in 1896 and was completed in 1909 from Mrs. Thomas P. Grasty and later was the home of the Edwin F. Conger family for many years. After Mr. Conger’s death in 1976, Dr. and Mrs. J. Darwin King purchased the estate. Breezy Hill has been carefully adapted to its current use, painstaking preserving much of the original woodwork, beautiful mantels and the leaded glass windows. It features a combined use of limestone, fieldstone and shingles, featuring large gables and a varied roofline. Breezy Hill’s exterior features incredible detail from the porte cochere to the beautiful wide wraparound porch. Truly a grand Staunton property and enrolled in the Virginia Landmark Registry.
